Sports and Licensing Attorney

David Meyer Law has an extensive background in the world of sports and licensing.   Mr. Meyer has negotiated thousands of license agreements with profesional sports leagues, professional athletes and on behalf of corporate clients desiring to obtain the use of an athlete’s image and likeness on products.

Mr. Meyer was counsel to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum for 8 years.  He was responsible for day to day operations at the stadium, including license agreements with the Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors and the Oakland Raiders.  He was heavily involved in the relocation of the Oakland Raiders from Los Angeles and the construction and renovation of thestadium.

With The Upper Deck Company, Mr. Meyer served as Director of Athlete and Strategic Alliances negotiating agreements with all major professional sports leagues, including Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, PBR and others.  He also negotiated license agreements with Upper Deck’s key spokesmen Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Wayne Gretsky, Ken Griffey Jr., Reggie Jackson, Rusty Wallace, Mark McGwire and many others.

For 5 years after Upper Deck, Mr. Meyer was the co-founder of Super Shots Sports, which held 1 of 2 NASCAR licenses for trading cards from 2001-2005.   The company worked with Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Hendrick Motorsports, Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth and other top teams and drivers.  Mr. Meyer also represented companies such as the Topps Company and Emerson Electronics with licensing agreements with top drivers and teams.
